Mike Dykstra

Executive Director

Mike, otherwise known as Spike by his brother, is both our Executive Director and the best conversationalist on the team. After receiving his degree in Business Administration from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he ran an adult care business from 2013 – 2018 along with part-time volunteer counseling. He chose to stay within the adult care industry because he loves being part of a team that helps the elderly and those with disabilities. His love of people shines brightly, guided by his passion to serve others with special challenges in life. At one time he thought about a position in ministry but has found a calling in meeting the needs of aging and disabled adults.

Mike was born in Grand Rapids, and grew up in Lowell, Michigan. Now, he lives with his wife, Brook, and their eight of their nine children; Allisyn, Isaiah, Kaitlin, Samuel, Josiah, Eli, Ruthann, Micah, and Ella. When he’s not on daddy duty, you can find Mike reading, hanging out with friends, or making connections volunteering in different ministry activities. His interest in helping people positions him as the best person to executively direct our team’s operations.

Choosing the happiest moment of Mike’s life is a hard choice for him to make. He’s been blessed with many happy moments over the years, including his wedding day, the birthday of each of his children, and special family vacations at their cottage.

Mike is a man of faith, and he tries to be an encouragement to those he comes into contact with. If you see Mike around Golden Life AFC, don’t be afraid to say hi! However, Mike is the type of person that has never met a stranger, so he might just beat you to it
